About Portland

Portland, fondly known as the City of Roses, has something for everyone.  Portland is home to many local musicians, artisan spirits and yoga studios.  Restaurants feature talented chefs who know exactly what to do with the region's bounty, with excellent farm-to-fork dining options around every corner.   The downtown area is vibrant, with farmer’s markets, craft fairs and street musician music around every corner.  A festive event occurring every weekend is the Portland Saturday Market, which is also now open on Sundays. The market features 300 local artisans who create a variety of crafts ensuring that all individuals will stumble upon something unique.

One of our favorite city attractions is Powell’s City of Books, the largest independent used and new bookstore in the world.  Take a break in the Portland Art Museum, Oregon History Museum or Lan Su Chinese Garden.  If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle or kayak, or take a kayak tour.  The hotel concierges will be able to assist you with arrangements.

Portland, Oregon, a premier birdwatching location in any season, combines superb natural beauty with a wide variety of habitats.  Portland Birdwatching Experiences  tours are completely customized based on the season and your interests. Options include relaxed walking tours all the way to fairly vigorous terrain over distances. We offer expert guiding, extensive local knowledge of rare and common birds and warm Portland hospitality.  Visit PBS's web site for more information and to arrange a tour.

Did you know that Portland has no sales tax?    Many local shops and department stores are just a short walk away in the downtown retail core.  For more information on Portland, visit www.travelportland.com.
